Je Vois, J'Imagine
Mixed Media Installation
2024 Video projection and Polyester fabrics |
"Je vois, J’imagine" means "I see and I imagine," reflecting both the audience's act of observing and imagining and my process of reinterpreting the observed archive. Just as memories change and evolve, I am exploring different memories, both mine and others, through site-responsive work.
I am also exploring different ways to use materials creatively. I've turned videos and images into colors, lines, and data, simplifying and abstracting them. Here, the lines against a black background mimic the scanography technique, where objects are scanned at different speeds to make abstract shapes. Certain images were converted into point cloud data, which includes details like grid geometry, RGB colors, and noise, representing points in a 3D coordinate system. Each point stands for a specific part of an object or scene. As this data moves around the space, our memories, both whole and fragmented, blend together, creating a unified composition. Using projectors and fabrics, I create immersive installations that map memories and demonstrate memory systems, akin to filing cabinets that encode, store, and retrieve information. Each piece is site-responsive, with videos projected uniquely in each area, adapting to the objects and space. |

Gallery Space 1This installation explores individuals walking in diverse locations and their personal memories. Translucent and opaque fabrics are used to portray both recalled and fading moments during motion. The torn fabrics symbolize the fragmentation of memories.

Gallery Space 2The merged videos signifies the dynamic nature of fragmented memories within our minds. Through the use of point clouds, videos are combined into a unified, multi-dimensional composition.
