I have been interested in doing a virtual group activity. I decided to incorporate our everyday objects from our space. The game ‘I Spy with My Little Eye’ inspired the concept. I view this process as an analog and manual way of searching and organizing items. We often associate colors with specific objects, but in real life, various colors can be found everywhere and they surprisingly are used in or on anything. This project gave me an opportunity to pay attention to my surroundings, and think about interactions I can have or create with the overlooked objects in my space. There were still other objects I now remember that could have possibly been included during this livestream event. For instructions, I wanted to make this project open-ended and playful for more options, to encourage different approaches. The main rules/instructions that I wanted everyone to follow were to choose a color, have the camera/laptop facing a surface, fill the camera frame with objects of their chosen hue, and unmute (each time they place their item or during the entire session). |
