Video and Audio surround installation
2023 PVC pipes, zip ties, projection, speakers The integral aspect of my body of work is the concept of improvisation and variation. Working with various materials including video, sound, PVC pipe, zip ties and ropes allows me to work intuitively just like drawing with the material. By using the linear properties of PVC pipes and zip ties, I am creating lines in the exhibition space that resemble the lines found on maps, such as topographic features, roadways, and GPS routes that we use to map our routes from one place to another. Therefore, the process of generating variations is similar to the experience of navigating through physical space and different paths we take each time we move.
Employing a site-responsive approach enables the creation of an installation that resembles a collage, with familiar elements arranged in different orientations for each iteration. By incorporating a diverse range of visual and aural elements, this approach enriches the artwork, igniting fresh perspectives and immersive experiences for the audience. The inclusion of these elements, which evoke sensations of meandering, wonderment, and transmogrification, fosters a sense of curiosity and intrigue. Through the interplay of various sensory components, the artwork invites viewers to embark on a journey of exploration and contemplation, provoking a deeper engagement and opening doors to new realms of perception. |
